This oil is called waste oil, this oil is carcinogenic which can damage the human health. Usually a lot of people throw the waste oil into the water channel and the soil could be harmful for the ecosystem. In Indonesia, cooking oil is produced from oil palm plantations. More people need the oil, more oil palm plantations will be expanded that makes the forest land the habitat of animals be damaged and could cause the structure of the soil becomes unstable.
On the other hand, Indonesia is a tropical agricultural country so that sugar cane plant can cultivate, in fact Indonesia is known as the pioneer of the world’s sugar cane, so there are many sugar factories in Indonesia. Sugar factories produce bagasse which is very harmful for the environment if it not used soon.
Bagasse can also attract many mosquitoes, so it would be dangerous if the bagasse will be left unattended further. Based on these problems, researchers provide solutions to utilize bagasse and cooking oil. The bagasse is used as an adsorbent of impurities present in the cooking oil which can be utilized as a neutralizer of cooking oil into a suitable oil. This study aims to determine the characteristics of sugar mill waste that can be used as absorbent of cooking oil
